Quality time with the family is what vacations are all about, and that is exactly what we found at Fern Resort in Orillia, Ontario. My husband and our three youngest children enjoyed an all inclusive weekend away at Fern Resort where we enjoyed a lot of family activities, entertainment and relaxation.
We stayed in the family room shown above. The room was a little dated but it was clean and very large. The couch pulled out into a bed making it perfect for the five of us. The room had a fridge, bar sink and fireplace and the wifi was free. The double beds were not as comfortable as I would like while away on vacation, but overall the room was good. There are a variety of room types at Fern Resort, including the cabins shown above. I saw rooms with a full view of the water and others with balconies that overlooked the pools.
Meals are served in the dining room of the main building, which happened to be the building we were staying in so it was very convenient. The dining room had a great view of the pools and the waterfront.
My family enjoyed all of the activities above but there were many more to experience. Daily activities are planned for adults and children every day. The children’s programming allows parents to have a little quiet time or take part in some of the adult only activities while the kids still have a lot of fun. There is bike riding, bocce ball, water skiing, rope climbing, trampolines and organized sports like soccer and water volleyball. There are also kayaks, paddle boats, peddle boats available at no additional charge.
The serene and beautiful surroundings at Fern Resort are ideal for a relaxing getaway. I really enjoyed our evening walks and the view alone helped me unwind. There is a spa available at the resort as well.
The staff at Fern Resort were exceptional. Our arrival at Fern Resort was delayed and we missed our first dinner seating and the staff arranged for us to get a late meal after we checked in, which was very appreciated. My son had a medical problem while we were visiting and had to go to the hospital (he is okay now and it was not related to the resort in any way). The front desk staff provided us a marked map to the hospital and checked in with us frequently, which was very comforting. The housekeeping staff was very friendly and did a fantastic job taking care of our room and the common areas. The dining staff was also very good. Overall I am very impressed with how personable and professional everyone was. I would definitely recommend visiting Fern Resort.
