Disney bounding is a fun way to dress at Disney! Walt Disney World does not allow adults to dress in character costumes at the parks because it could be confusing to differentiate between guests and cast. It is a safety measure and a way to ensure there is no confusion. However, that doesn’t mean you can’t show your love for Disney characters on your next trip.
What is Disney Bounding?
Disney Bounding is the act of dressing to represent a Disney character. It is not wearing costumes, but putting together an outfit that would be perceived as a regular outfit, but could also be identified as being reminiscent of a Disney character.
Disney Bounding began when a Disney enthusiast wanted to show her love of Disney characters, without breaking the dress code rules of the Disney Parks. It is rather brilliant really, and a fun way to plan your wardrobe on your next trip to Disney.
Disney Bounding as Merida
I have put together some Disney Bounding ideas and will be sharing them with you every Friday. To kick things off, I’m starting with one of my favourite Disney Princesses, Merida. This is a more subtle Disney bound than some others I have, but I feel like her overall presence comes through in the outfit. Of course I can’t have a full head of bouncy red curls, so I settled for a hat and wrap to recreate those red locks.
I combined the colours of Merida’s hair and dress with some Celtic jewelry and some gorgeous boots to bring in her Irish, horseback riding roots. Would you recognize this outfit as a Merida representation?
