Summer camp brings back memories of capture the flag, campfire stories and late night chats with new friends. It was a chance for a little freedom and adventure, and the opportunity to make memories that last a lifetime. This year my children will be making their own summer camp memories at Muskoka Woods!

An exclusive overnight summer camp located on Lake Rosseau, Muskoka Woods has so much more to offer than the typical summer camp.  The wide range of water, athletic and creative activities makes Muskoka Woods the ideal choice for families whose children are not all interested in the same things. The camp is set up to build kids’ confidence and leadership skills by introducing them to a variety of new activities and letting them showcase their talents in familiar activities, as well.

The water babies in your family will be excited to see the wide range of activities to choose from. They can have some fun on the waterslides, play on the beach or take out the canoes and kayaks for some quiet time on the water. If they are more adventurous, there are opportunities for waterskiing, windsurfing and wakeboarding.

Your little athletes can excel in basketball, floor hockey, soccer, volleyball and gymnastics. They can also combine adventure and athletics in marksmanship, paintball and on the ropes course. If creativity and athleticism are in his/her wheelhouse, maybe a dance class would be appropriate.

The more creative types will love classes such as fine arts, culinary, digital photography, musical theatre, radio broadcasting and even video production.  It’s an itinerary made for future stars.

My teenagers both have an interest in golf so they are signed up for a session each day, and we thought it was a good opportunity for Griffin to see if golf is something he enjoys, as well. The boys both like to play table soccer and also have some free time which made a session a day of leisure sports right for them. Avery is a creative at heart, so daily arts and crafts are on her itinerary, along with tennis and some beach time every day.

I’m excited to hear about their time at Muskoka Woods and all the activities they tried, but mostly, I am looking forward to inviting home kids who have developed a little more independence and confidence than when they left. After all, that is the best part of camp.

Muskoka Woods is for children age seven to seventeen. They have an extraordinary staff to guest ration of 2:4 and they are of course fully staffed with a doctor and nurses to deal with medications and any health and safety needs. The kids sleep in modern and clean cabins with children from their own age group and one or more counsellors.
