I love amusement parks and roller coasters, and I am blessed with at least one child who loves them too. Avery is a bit of a daredevil. She’s not quite 9 years old yet and she will ride any roller coaster that she is tall enough to get on…and she puts her hands up in the air when she’s on them! She’s such a thin little thing that I always worry she’s going to fly right out of the ride, so I wish she would at least hold on!

The Leviathon at Canada’s Wonderland

Canada’s Wonderland is the closest amusement park to us, and we visit every year. They have some of the coolest roller coasters I’ve ever been on, and when you’re ready to cool off you can visit the water park. Splash Works has something for all ages and it’s free with admission to the park. It’s definitely worth checking out!

Here are some of the top amusement parks in North America, along with the number of roller coasters each one has and what the approximate cost of admission is. It’s a great tool when planning your family vacations!

  1. What a great post! I love roller coasters and my husband hates them. Luckily my 7 year old loves them too so I don’t have to go alone.

  2. We used to love to go to Cedar Point and King’s Island as kids (both in Ohio). As an adult, I am dying to go to Legoland (I guess I really haven’t grown up at all).

  3. I found out a few year back that I cannot go on roller coaster because of my bad vision and the fact that I am prone to retinal detachment. Nuts that I could go blind from it. I was and am so sad. πŸ™

  4. Ummmm…no, thank you! LOL! I don’t do roller coasters! My husband loves them though…he would be into this. And I imagine my kids will, too.

  5. Cedar Point! Hands down..but I haven’t been in ages and told my hubby the next time I went he would go too!

  6. Cedar Point is by far my fav — I’ve been to Kings Island too but Cedar Point takes the Gold on that one! The Dragster is the scariest coaster I’ve ever endured!

  7. We don’t live too far from Cedar Point, so we’ve been there quite a few times. I”m not a huge daredevil though. I like some roller coasters, but a lot of them are just too much for me.

  8. I haven’t been to any of those amusement parks. I actually detest amusement parks, I’m scared to death of roller coasters, heights, public restrooms, pretty much all rides, rides that go fast, watching my kids on rides, etc. Alright, I sound like a nutter!

  9. I’ve been to two of the places on the list- Six Flags Magic Mountain & Six Flags Great America in Gurnee. Love them both!

  10. King’s Dominion is the only one of those I’ve been too surprisingly! My husband and I love roller coasters and went to Orlando on our honeymoon!

  11. We were supposed to go to Cedar Point last year but my sister in law sustained a head injury – not exactly the ideal time to go with her to an amusement park. LOL I hope we still get to go one day!

  12. I love going to Holiday World in Santa Claus, Indiana. I hope to visit the Dollywood and Silver Dollar City amusement parks soon, though. πŸ™‚

  13. I can’t even remember the last time I went on a roller coaster – I need to test myself to see if I can ride without getting sick.

  14. Roller coasters are not for me, my stomach get queezy just looking at them. My daughter forces my husband to go on with her

  15. What a fantastic list! I haven’t made it to many of these but the one’s I did were amazing! Thanks for the list, I’m bookmarking it!
