After enjoying one of very few green Christmases I have ever experienced here in Southwestern Ontario, we have finally had some snow…and I can’t say that I’m happy about it. It’s cold. It has to be shoveled. And did I mention it’s cold?
It makes me want to go back to Florida. It makes me want to go back to Universal Studios where it was warm and lots and lots of fun! The main reason I wanted to go to Universal Studios, was to go to the Wizarding World of Harry Potter. I have spent hours looking at the Wizarding World of Harry Potter’s website. I know everything that they sell in their stores and what I could expect to find there. I was researching it long before we had planned our trip to Florida…and the reality of going there, had me as giddy as the kids.
When we got to Universal Studios, we rented a double stroller (I learned a long time ago to make sure I get a double, because even the big kids will want to ride at some point) and found a map. My plan was to head to the Wizarding World of Harry Potter, but I found it was at the back of the park so we decided to make our way around. I’m glad we did, because we found some awesome things!
Seuss Landing was incredible. It was so colourful and fun and the kids loved it. We went on a Cat in the Hat ride that took us through the whole story with moving characters; we rode a train around the park, ate lunch at a circus and saw some real Who people wandering the park.
From there we went onto the Lost World and experienced Poseidon’s Fury. This was a great live action experience that the audience participated in. And then we made it to the star attraction…the Wizarding World of Harry Potter. It felt like magic walking in Hogsmeade. Maybe I’m just too big of a Harry Potter fan, but it was really magical and I loved it. We saw the Hogwart’s Express and Ollivander’s Shop (where we picked up our own wands) and went on to ride the Flight of the Hippogriff and toured Hogwarts. There were talking paintings just like in the books and movies. It was incredible!
To add to the magic, you could try some butterbeer, shop at Zonkos and pick up any number of magical devices that are mentioned in the Harry Potter books. There were some great looking roller coasters too, but we didn’t try them since the kids were too small (or too chicken, lol).
Jurassic Park was our next stop and the kids had fun with some dinosaur displays, and watched a baby dinosaur hatch.
Beyond Jurassic Park there was a fun looking water park, but it was a little too cool for water rides that day, so we just watched the people who would brave the cool weather. I caught a quick video of on of the water slides…
After going through the park, we headed back over to Seuss Landing so we could see Grinchmas. It was a great show and I taped some of it for you.
