I have a lot of really fun activities planned for this summer, but nearing the top of the list is Blue Mountain. I have never visited before but I have heard nothing but great things about the Blue Mountain resort, so I’m very excited to be taking my boys there in August.

Blue Mountain has grown into Ontario’s most popular four-season destination with more than 2- green season activities for all ages and ability levels. The resort has more than 1000 accommodation units, along with 45 restaurants, bars and retail stores in the Blue Mountain Village. Last year, the resort opened new attractions including the:

  • Timber Challenge
  • High ropes and woodlot low ropes
  • Two aerial obstacle courses featuring suspended logs and cargo nets
  • Cascade Putting Course
  • Mountaintop Segway ToursBMR 2012 Ski and Lifestyle

These all sound fantastic to me, especially the Seway Tour. I had my first experience at that just a couple of months ago and I am now in love with the Segways! They are so much fun. Another thing I absolutely love is ziplining. My ten year old son has tried it and loved it too, so I’m really excited to try the new Wind Rider Triple Zips at Blue Mountain. It has three parallel 400 foot zip lines where you go as fast as 50 km/h in some spots! Now that’s excitement!

The Ridge Runner Mountain Coaster is another exciting attraction at Blue Mountain.

Ontario’s first mountain coaster offers an exciting downhill adventure at Blue Mountain. The coaster will take riders on an exhilarating trip through the escarpment’s varied terrain and thrilling glades for over a kilometre downhill. The driver takes control of their own speed travelling down the track with access to a manual brake, providing speeds of up to 42 km/h. Take a scenic ride down the mountain to enjoy views of Georgian Bay and the Niagara Escarpment, your trip will be one to remember! Blue Mountain lodging guests also receive discounted tickets!

While I am a bit of a thrill seeker and I’m excited to try some of these activities, I’m also looking forward to some relaxing time with my boys. With the area beaches and scenery, a mini golf course and the local shops I think we are going to have a really great time making memories together.

Visit the Blue Mountain Resort website to learn more about what is happening in the area this summer. Maybe I will see you there!

  1. Being from the Deep South (US), I had never heard of it before. Sounds great – I would love to try the Segway and eat at one of the restaurants (45!!).

  2. July 18-Blue Mountain sounds like a perfect spot to vacation if you and your family like the thrill of Ziplining and coasting down a mountain. Sound like thrills and fun.-

  3. Wow, I never thought I would consider any coaster, but the Ridge Runner Mountain Coaster looks fun. I’m sure I would go at the lowest speed though 🙂 I wonder how they control that ride… I mean, is there a chance someone with the “need for speed” will stuck behind me?… That would be annoying to both of us.
